How your KMF Ticket helps to fund our work.
The Shakespeare Hospice is an award-winning hospice and the largest independent day hospice in the West Midlands, offering a diverse range of services to our patients, and their families/ carers across South Warwickshire and the North Cotswolds.
Our hospice is not just about end of life care, we provide support and compassion alongside our patients and their families throughout their journey from diagnosis through to treatment, and survivorship. We care for the patient and their family holistically supporting their physical, psychological, and spiritual needs.
Last year, we supported over 1,000 adults and young people from South Warwickshire and the North Cotswolds who accessed one or more of our specialised services; day hospice, hospice at home, counselling for pre and post bereavement support for families, young people and children, transitional care for 16 – 24 year olds, support for young carers, and with spiritual, emotional, and complimentary therapies.
We are often asked why we don’t have in-patient beds. We made a conscious decision to invest in a robust 24/7 Hospice at Home service because being at home is where most people who need end of life care want to be.
All of our services are free at the point of delivery but they are not free to provide. This year, our services will cost £2.4 million with a 11% contribution from the NHS, one of the lowest contributions made in England compared to the average 30% other hospices receive. The remaining 89% is generated by 8 shops and the fundraising team which is why we rely heavily upon the generosity of people in our community.
